Roller skating and jumping

I look back over my blog and see what a mismatch of things I post about and today is no different!!
Above is the promised picture from my three lens camera - sorry I took a photo of it but I will try and get some scanned in ( well I will ask Manny if he can make his super duper computer go back in time so it can run the pre-historic scanner! technology it isn't simple!) See how it takes each shoot slightly after the other - I think it could be really fun - I will be doing some more experimenting soon.

Another car boot find - and one of my favourite so far. I have always wanted to be able to roller skate, it has to be proper roller skates and not blades. I have bidded on ones on ebay but they have always sold for a lot more than I wanted to pay, I have found childrens ones in charities shops but never the right size. But then on Sunday, as we were leaving I spotted these perfect skates - I practically ran over to them, forgetting all the car boot rules and checked the size, perfect - my size. So I tried to cancel out my earlier running by seeming a bit disinterested and asked how much they were. You have guessed it they a bargain at £3 I put them under my arm and handed over my money as quickly as possible and walk off with a proud smile! All the way home Manny and I laced bets on how soon I would fall over (I am very clumsy and have very little balance!) and the possible injuries I would gain!

It might not look like I am moving but I was - possibly slower than a walking pace but I was moving!! I went out twice that day and am planning on lots more practice soon!

Vintage paper bunting

My friends asked me if I could make them some bunting for their kitchen, if possible with some birds on. Well instead of my usual fabric bunting (I wasn't having much luck finding any with birds on) I thought I would try something different.
So after a day of hitting the charity shops I came back with lots of materials for making it!

These were the first few flags I made

Here it is finished - I used old postcards, sheet music, an old map, old pages from a book, lace, stamps (with birds on), vintage playing cards, jigsaw pieces and pages from a collins bird book.

I really love it and hope they like it too!

You probably can't read it but the bird on the left is called rock bunting - there were a few different bunting birds - I had to include one of them!

Vintage film cameras

This is a photo heavy post of all my film cameras - most of them vintage! The collection has grown a lot over the past few months!

I mainly collect the different types of kodak brownies, and have 8 in my collection so far!

I love this one - it is tiny!

These two are much newer - the below one takes 3 shoots at once - on one photo - I have just got a film developed I will show you how the pictures come out - they are really fun!

The button is my most recent purchase from the car boot on Sunday - it set me back £2! The most I have paid is £4.99 but most of them I get for about £2

Crumble cake and bagels

Another crumbleberry cake happened.  It had to after I had shared the first one with my parents and Manny had told me how disappointed he was to find there was second piece for him!! I had already planned to make another as it was so excellent. This time I went for strawberries, rasberries, blueberries and a few blackberries.

I added oats and walnuts to the crumble topping again.

It smells of hot jam when it comes out of the oven and is amazing warm, but we have discovered it is equally delicious cold!

Here are my bagels boiling! After watching the great British bake off Manny gave making bagels a go. Well they were delicious, so much so we ate quite a few! So I thought it best to make some more for lunches and gave it a go myself. I was surprised at how easy it was!

I know there is room for improvement but for a first go I actually preferred them to shop bought ones!

Sorry about the blurred last picture - I was too excited to try one!!

Tewkesbury Abbey and recent thrifty finds

A lovely sunny day and the view across to the Abbey.

I lvoed that the garden walled seem to be made up of bits of surplus abbey!

I got this mustard bag on Wednesday thinking it might go nicely with my new teal dress, and then on Friday I came across these faith shoes for only £5, both from charity shops! They are a perfect match.

I got this kodak disc camera and film (one film already in the camera with a few photos already taken!) at a car boot for £2. I am not sure if anywhere locally develops the film but I will give it a go!

This is an old light meter I picked up from London camera exchange for £2, they always have something different in their odds and ends bin.

Finally I picked up these sugar tongs for 75p in a charity shop. After going to Well walk tea room I really wanted some so that I could do something similar at home. Here is how it looked!

I also managed to pick up a smaller sugar bowl but that is currently with my dad who is giving it a mat finish to match everything else. Have you found anything recently?
